  • Led people’s campaign for rehabilitation of ahars-pynes in the name of ‘Ahar Pyne Bachao Abhiyan’ since 2001
  • Led Bhoo Adhikar Abhiyan
  • Mobilized communities of Nawada and Nalanda in area against open defication practices & Use of contaminated water
  • Run education centre for child labor, Dalit women and Slum children.
  • Co-organizer of a network of Civil Society Organization named Jal Ajeevika Manch
  • Skill training to Dalit women and artisans

 Water is our prime concern: JVS is committed to act upon:

  • Traditional methods of water conservation and management practices in Bihar
  • Threats to the water resource due to globalization
  • Pollution of water sources from industrialization and urbanization
  • Water harvesting measures and its status
  • Death of aquifers and its overexploitation
  • Reduction of forest area vis-à-vis impact on water recharge
  • Drinking water and its quality issues
  • Sanitation and its non-linkage with water
  • Promoting effective use of natural resources like land and water for livelihood and economic development
  • Contributing to increasing the irrigation potential of the region

We undertake advocacy on water through Jal Ajivika Manch (JAM):

A platform to discuss and share the issue of livelihood with focus on water

  • Formation of a group of people who are serious for the water as a subject
  • To see that the people benefit and take it to the state and other forums which can play role in conservation of water resources of the state
  • Frame / Reframe the water related policies of the state in favor of resource conservation and people’s concern
  • To take up studies which may guide others ( like state, civil society organizations etc)

We act at the grassroots through Ahar Pyne Bachao Abhiyan (APBA) doing:

  • Renovation of traditional water bodies and water related structures like Ahar, Pyne and Pokhars
  • Promotion of water harvesting and water conservation practices
  • Awareness generation and mobilization
  • Watershed projects
  • Promoting effective use of natural resources like land and water for livelihood and economic development
  • Contributing to increasing the irrigation potential of the region
