Janhit Vikas Samiti (JVS), Nawada was established in 1985 on 11th October on the birth day of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan by a group of persons having keen interest in the socio-economic transformation of the state. It was registered under Indian Society of Registration Act, 1860 on 30th January, 1989 and got F.C.R.A. in Janurary 1993. Since its inception, JVS has taken up the issues of social and economic development especially of the poor rural people through natural resources management along with many socio-economic development programmes in the rural areas at the grass root level.
JVS has thus been playing a catalytic role in promotion of land and water resources for reversing the trend of degradation of these natural resources along with keeping special focus and revival of traditional water resources such as ahar-pyne. Since last two decades JVS has made a strong advocacy with a network of NGOs/CBOs for the causes of water and development commensurate with sanitation and hygiene.
